CMSD in the Community
Giving back to our community is not only important but is valuable in making the places we live happier and healthier — it’s how everyone wins. CMSD remains active on the Water Front and in the community around us. Our employees are not only active where they live but also where they work and play. As a company, we are generous in sponsoring and attending many charitable events. But, most importantly, it’s our people; our employees are actively “giving back” with countless volunteer hours.
SDFD Toy Drop and GNP Holiday gifts for Neighborhood Schools
December is a time of giving for CMSD employees who contribute toys and clothing to the local Fire Station #7, through Toys for Tots and to The Good Neighbor Project. All programs help children in need to receive holiday gifts. It takes a lot of prepping before the “BIG Day”. Some of our past behind-the-scenes volunteers are captured (see photo’s) in their act of giving. In 2015 CMSD’s generous employees contributed over 100 toys and clothing items to help children in need. These donations were above and beyond what the company also donated through the Toy Match program. These toys were wrapped by our volunteers and delivered to The Good Neighbor Project with the Port of San Diego Ship Repair Assn. & Fire Station #7 for the Toys for Tots Drive.
And the giving continues…
CMSD was a proud Sponsor and Participant of the San Diego Port Tenants Association’s (SDPTA) 26th Annual Operation Clean Sweep, held Saturday, August 27, 2016. Volunteers cleared debris from 12 different locations throughout San Diego Bay, its shore-side and watershed plus 2 dive sites. CMSD employees were part of the approximately 1,300 volunteers (the highest number since 2011) who participated in the event.
